Latin American Poker Tour Bahamas

Dec 14, 2015  Season 9 of the PokerStars.net Latin American Poker Tour has been announced, with kickoff in the Bahamas in January 2016.

Latin American Poker Tour Bahamas 2017

From November 25 through December 3, 2015, the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) will host their Season 8 finale in São Paulo, Brazil, and thanks to a new collaboration, it will be held alongside the Brazil Series of Poker (BSOP) Millions festival.

The two tours come together to create a poker festival featuring 32 events offering a wide variety of games and buy-ins including the R$10,000 LAPT Grand Final Main Event and the R$3,000 BSOP Millions. Other schedule highlights include a Seniors Event, pot-limit Omaha Courchevel, no-limit hold'em six-max, a no-limit hold'em Survivor Event running every day at 10 p.m., and the popular Ladies Event.

The BSOP Millions is the biggest poker festival ever held in Latin America, with last year’s event drawing more than 15,000 entrants. That included 2,749 entrants in the Main Event, which saw Wilson Calixto emerge victorious to capture a $416,168 first-place prize.

'The BSOP Millions and the LAPT Grand Final are the two most important live poker events in Latin America,' said Igor Federal, Chief Executive Officer of the BSOP. 'The region has seen a massive increase in player numbers in recent years, with the BSOP reporting a 218% increase in tournament entries since last year. Bringing together the two tours means that we can combine our efforts to create one amazing festival, and we are expecting record numbers of players.'

Popular Brazilian player and Team PokerStars Pro Andre Akkari echoed those sentiments: 'In 2014 the BSOP Millions was a record-breaking event, providing a poker festival experience like no other. This year, with the LAPT Grand Final joining the festival and Brazilian football legend Neymar Jr acting as a PokerStars ambassador to help promote poker as a sport, it is going to increase overall participation and strengthen the competitiveness of the event. I encourage players from all over Latin America to participate in both tournaments and contribute to the growth of poker in the region.'

Latin American Poker Tour Bahamas 2016

Poker players in Latin America have another reason to celebrate as partypoker becomes the latest big name poker brand to announce a live tour stop in the region. Introducing the partypoker Latin American Poker Championships (LAPC) which will take place Feb. 24-March 4 at the Conrad Resort on the coast of Uruguay in Punta del Este.

The nine-day series guarantees $2 million in prize pools, highlighted by a $1 million guaranteed Main Event and a $200,000 guaranteed Super High Roller. Satellites are now running at partypoker where players can win $15,000 packages to the event, with super-satellite buy-ins starting at just one cent.

Last month, it was online poker operator PokerStars to announce the return of the European Poker Tour (EPT) and the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) for 2018, with LAPT Chile scheduled for March.

Another major live tour — the World Poker Tour — has continued a presence in South America, holding their first televised event on the continent from Nov. 1-5 at Enjoy Punta del Este in Uruguay.

Venturing to South America

For partypoker, this won’t be their first rodeo in Latin America, and with the way the continent has been experiencing a bit of their own poker boom of late, it’s no surprise they are getting more involved there.

partypoker has already gotten their feet wet in South America, just last year partnering with the WSOP Circuit to host WSOP Brazil in the summer and also sponsoring the WSOP Uruguay Main Event in December, also held at the Conrad Resort.

In a recent press release, partypoker LIVE president John Duthie commented, “Poker has taken off in Latin America in a major way in recent years so it’s a very exciting time to be playing there. I’m delighted that we are hosting another event in the region, especially somewhere like Punta del Este … I know players are going to love it.”

Continued Resurgence

Latin American Tour

American

The announcement of the new Latin American tour comes after a year of stellar resurgence for the partypoker online and live brands, a feat that earned the brand the 'Online Poker Operator of the Year' award at the EGR Operator Awards 2017, and also landed them number eight in the top ten stories of the year at PokerNews.

They relaunched their live tour a year ago and introduced partypoker LIVE and partypoker MILLIONS events that featured $5,000 buy-in events, multi-million dollar guarantees and even online opening flights. The company plans to build on the success they saw in 2017 with a partypoker MILLIONS schedule featuring prize pool guarantees totaling more than $100 million between Nov. 2017 and Dec. 2018.

The recent introduction of MY PP LIVE $$$ allows its players to bank bucks from satellite wins online to apply to buy-ins, travel and accommodations for any partypoker live event, a feature that players can use for the newly announced LAPC should they choose to do so.

If the current trend continues, more regulars on the tournament circuit may be looking to book flights to South America in the months to come.
